Two Yogic stories about car

Car #1

Imagine you have obtained a marvellous, sophisticated and powerful car. As you get into the car and are excited for the new explorations ahead, you realize that besides starting the engine, you do not know how to drive. Without reading the user’s manual, simply by imitating how your parents drove their cars, you step onto the gas pedal and onward you go!

Sure, you got into a few scrapes with the car and you collected a bunch of bumper stickers, “it builds character”, people would say. Some people even suggested “alternative” fuels, guaranteed to offer elevated experience. Unable to navigate fully, you drove fast onto unexpected paths, encountered various people and scenarios. When it was beautiful, you were convinced it must be fate; when it was unpleasant, you determined it was pure bad luck.

Whenever the car broke down, because it had been taking the incompatible fuels from lack of understanding of the mechanics, you took the rattling car to visit local garages, hoping for a factory reset. But the parts you received were never as good as the original, you expressed the full spectrum of emotions to the mechanics before storming off.

Until the moment the car gave up and came to full stop. Looking at the road travelled, you were surprised that you never made it far from home. Bewildered, you hope the next car would be a smoother ride.

Car #2

Imagine you have obtained a marvellous, sophisticated and powerful car. As you get into the car and are excited for the new explorations ahead, you realize that besides starting the engine, you do not know how to drive. You read the car manual chapter by chapter, and you remember watching your parents drive, you step onto the gas pedal excited and confident.

On occasion, there are scrapes along the way, but you never see the significance of permanent stickers. “I like change.” you think. Some people suggest “alternative” fuels, but you know what’s best for the car and shrug it off. Navigating with full speed, you drive with joy and explore many new paths, encountering many scenarios and like minded people. It is a constant learning experience, and you are thankful for every moment.

Whenever the car breaks down, because of external factors you cannot control, you take the dented car to the original manufacturer, and receive the needed service for optimal performance. The parts were serviced, maintained and continued to work efficiently as they had been designed. You were grateful to have studied the manual, which lead you to the manufacturer.

Until the moment the car ran out of all fuel and came to full stop. Looking into the road ahead, you smiled at the beautiful sunset. Blissful, you know the next journey will be glorious.
