85HR Yoga Nidra Teacher Training

A JOURNEY INTO THE EMBRACE OF THE GODDESS YOGA NIDRA

The word Nidra means sleep, so Yoga Nidra is often referred to as ‘yogic sleep’. Ni also means ‘void’ and dru means ‘to reveal’.

As you lie down, we effortlessly move through the body, bringing awareness to and releasing tension in each part of the body while settling the mind, to move into deeper states of consciousness. On the outermost layers, you may feel ease in the body, a wave of peace wash over you, and a feeling of being held. This is so needed in the times we currently live in (with the majority of us living in permanent stress and tension).

However, Yoga Nidra is so much more. As you move deeper, answers may be revealed to questions you haven’t even asked. And then you go further. It is the sleep of the Divine – empty and yet full, a void yet abundant, an entry to the infinite.

Yoga Nidra is the teacher.

ABOUT YOGA NIDRA AND MY LINEAGE

Yoga Nidra is more than just a technique or even rest and ‘sleep’. Rest is essential, and Yoga Nidra provides profound benefits in this regard. But it is so much more. Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness, of being. As we move into Yoga Nidra, we ‘sleep’ (disidentify) to the impermanent parts around us (money, relationships, status). We become awake to the unchanging, eternal aspect of ourselves that never sleeps. It awakens, reveals, transforms and permeates.

Yoga Nidra is referred to in many yogic texts, such as the Devi Mahatmya, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and more. This ancient practice is mainly passed down through oral tradition from teacher to student (many styles, techniques, and traditions exist today). The practices I share were passed down through one of my teachers, who received them from his teacher, in the Sri Vidya lineage (of the Himalayan Institute, from India). This tradition honours the Goddess.

LET YOGA NIDRA BE YOUR TEACHER

  • Enter the realm of Yoga Nidra, dreams, sleep, rituals, and mudra, and embody the deep wisdom of the ancient teachings of Yoga Nidra.

  • Deepen your relationship of self-compassion, acceptance, stillness, peace, and resiliency.

  • Embrace the unknown where true power, healing and manifestation are realized.

  • Skillfully create a safe space for students as you guide them through the koshas (subtle bodies) into Yoga Nidra.

  • Use and develop beautiful scripts, while transmitting your authentic voice.

  • Explore the mind, karma, samskaras, beliefs and desires. Create powerful sankalpas (intentions) to embolden your destiny.

WHO IS THIS TRAINING FOR?

  • You are ready to explore deep spaciousness and stillness, and want to understand more about sleep, dreams, consciousness, and Yoga Nidra.

  • You want to learn more about yourself, and cultivate the power of lasting, impactful change in yourself and others with sankalpa and Yoga Nidra.

  • You are a yoga and/or meditation teacher wanting to offer your students a space to connect deeply with themselves and the potency of Yoga Nidra.

  • You are a hypnotherapist, health care professional, or you work in the healing profession and want to learn more about stillness, rest, the nervous system and Yoga Nidra.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

This is mainly an in-person training so you can physically see and experience the poses. Teaching from an embodied place is essential in transmitting the richness of the practice. We will be in an intimate setting (limited to 15 students). The training is meant to be a space to learn but to also feel immense support and safety to rest for yourself. Some sections are online and can be completed at your own pace. Online sections are charged separately (and are transferable for the Yoga Nidra Training).

To receive the full certificate, you will need to complete all sections (in-person and online) and homework assignments. You will be able to attend and assist restorative classes. A highlight of the training is attending the Sound Healing workshop (while you rest in poses, a guest instructor will use sound to add to your healing journey).

WHAT WILL I RECEIVE??

  • Yoga Nidra Practices - Pre-recorded practices and other resources (including extensive manuals) are available online to nourish yourself.

  • Manuals & Mentorship - Practice guiding Yoga Nidra in a supportive space and receive guidance. You will also receive an extensive manual.

  • New Moon Yoga Nidra Workshop - Included in your tuition is the opportunity to attend one New Moon Yoga Nidra workshop for free.

SHANINE DENNILL

After being touched by the death of family members at a young age, Shanine questioned the meaning of life and death. This led her on a spiritual quest and to study with masterful spiritual teachers.

Over the past 15 years, Shanine has helped thousands of people to nourish and restore their body, mind and soul through her classes (having owned a studio for 10 years and now teaching at Inye Yoga), having taught many teacher trainings, workshops, and through her recordings. Her first teaching position was working at a hospice, bringing the healing benefits of restorative yoga to those with life-limiting illnesses. She returned to Restorative when she was so depleted that she could not get out of bed. Restorative and Yoga Nidra restored her back to health (as well as through herbal medicine) and provided so much more.

Shanine is dedicated to bringing Rituals and Rest to her students (a space that cultivates reverence and guides us to slow down and listen to the whispers of our heart). Yoga Nidra has brought her some peace with the aspects around death, which is our most extraordinary transformational transition. In Restorative and Yoga Nidra, we are on a pilgrimage of dissolving to be fully received in the unknown (much like death).

Shanine is an E-RYT 500 and YACEP with the Yoga Alliance (having graduated from 3 trainings). She has received extensive training in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Meditation. She practices Tantra Yoga, is a Reiki practitioner, and is currently studying Ayurveda.

Shanine's desire is to share the wisdom of soulful healing to live fully and die well.

KATHLEEN AUBRY

Guest - The Brain & Nervous System Regulation

Thirty years ago, when Kathleen stepped onto a yoga mat for the first time, little did she know that she was taking the first step into a practice that would transform her life. In the beginning, she loved the physical practice of yoga, developing strength and flexibility, and the feeling of lightness she would have after class. But as Kathleen continued to practice, she became aware that what she really loved was the sense of contentment and inner peace she would feel, not just while she was practising, but also in other areas of her life. These feelings inspired her to delve into learning more about yoga, first by taking the Yoga Teacher Training at Chrysalis Yoga and then to study Yoga Therapy at Vedansha Institute of Vedic Science and Alternative Medicine in Rishikesh, India. This is where her yoga became a deeply spiritual practice integrating breath, mind, and body. She found a place, a way, to inner peace and healing. Kathleen truly believes that Yoga IS Therapy; yoga is a system of healing that works from the outside in.

Kathleen has over 30 years of experience as a Registered Kinesiologist and recently received her C-IAYT. Her original studies in Western medicine taught her anatomy, physiology, and the science of human movement. Still, the ancient Eastern science of life, yoga, taught her to take a holistic approach, simultaneously working on the body, mind and spirit. Currently, Kathleen teaches Chair Yoga and Aquatic Yoga. She is passionate about helping people in pain by integrating yoga into healthcare.
