34 hour pre & post natal yoga teacher training

This training is ideal for yoga teachers and professionals such as doulas, midwives and registered nurses who are interested in supporting women through pregnancy and a confident post natal transition through Yoga practice.   This course will delve into all trimesters of pregnancy, including the 4th trimester.  Students will explore a full spectrum of pre and post natal yoga postures and sequences that safely support a healthy mom and baby.

COURSE CURRICULUM

+ PART 1: ESSENTIAL YOGA FOR PRE NATAL MOTHERS


You will deepen your understanding of:

  • Changing physiology during pregnancy.
  • The benefits of yoga during pregnancy.
  • Diastasis and the linea alba.
  • Modifications and alignment of poses with the incorporation of props.
  • Common discomforts and yoga poses which will aid with this.
  • Breathing techniques (Pranayama) and meditation.
  • Supportive and restorative poses.
  • Structuring and sequencing a prenatal yoga class.




+ PART 2: ESSENTIAL FOR POST NATAL YOGA & SUPPORTING MOTHERS


Learning how to regain physical strength, support overall health and well being and alleviate physical discomfort after pregnancy is essential. In Part 2 you will deepen your understanding of:

  • The 4th Trimester.
  • Postpartum issues.
  • Key postpartum yoga poses.
  • Modification of poses with props.
  • Diastasis and the linea alba.
  • Breath and the pelvic floor.
  • Structuring and sequencing a postnatal yoga class.




+ PART 3: YOGA FOR FERTILITY


As an added feature we will also discuss Yoga for Fertility. You will learn about the benefits of Yoga for Fertility, how to sequence a Yoga for Fertility class, the use of pranayama and meditation; and how yoga can help support a mom-to-be for pregnancy. This practice embraces the principles of Ananda: self-love, kindness and compassion for one’s self.





SONIA CLARKE

Sonia Clarke is an ERYT 500 certified Yoga Instructor.  She has continued to specialize her training in pre and post natal Yoga, and she’s a senior teacher at Inye who supports moms and babies through Yoga during the pre and post natal periods. Sonia is also certified in Yoga of Awareness for Cancer from Duke Integrated Medicine, part of Duke University Health Systems in Durham, NC.  She is Canada’s first yoga teacher to receive this certification from Duke University.  Sonia shares the benefits of Yoga practice with cancer patients and survivors  through all the Wellspring centres in the GTA, and is part of Kula’s Teacher Training Faculty for the Yoga for Cancer program.

ACCREDITATION:

Upon completion students will receive a certificate which can be applied towards Continuing Education Hours (CEH) through Yoga Alliance.

PROGRAM PREREQUISITE:

Program Prerequisite: Those who have completed a 200hour Yoga Teacher Training, as well as doulas, midwives and health professionals with an established Yoga practice and working knowledge of the principles of yogic alignment.
